THE END OF AN ERA
The end of an era.
Saturday night was super special, for me, for the guys, and hopefully for you too.
I’ve spent the last couple of days reflecting. This band meant so much to me. It’s not just that we made music that I’m still proud of now. It’s that we worked damn hard every week and then we played hard every weekend. And we played hard on Saturday. Might’ve have had a little cry or two on Sunday.
I have a few thank yous. Not least to all of you who piled into a sweaty DIVE to make our last hurrah feel so memorable. It was equally as lovely to see those of you who’ve been there since 2017, singing every word, as it was to see new faces watching L.M.L. for the first time. And while I was gutted to hear so many of you felt sad that you’d not be seeing us again, I could take some consolation from that. At least we did something worthwhile.
The biggest of thank yous to Sam and Jamie, for agreeing to the show. I decided a few months ago that, without them, it’s just not Let Man Loose. The right thing to do was to celebrate it, and then park it. Them agreeing to the gig was very special to me. Being alongside them again was very special.
There’s just something magical about the four of us in a room together, and the noises we make when we pick up our instruments. When we rehearsed again with Jamie for the first time last week, Danny, Sam and I exchanged knowing looks half way through the first song. It just sounded right.
Thank you, boys. I love you all so much.
I wouldn’t like to count the hours Chris Cook has spent whizzing back and forth along the M62 to make noise with us over the last couple of years. When Jamie agreed to the gig, he did so on the proviso that Chris be there too, and it was wonderful to watch the two of them playing off one another. Thank you Chris, for your hard work, excellent licks and for helping portray our sound live as the powerhouse it was on record.
Elliott Mann. He’s followed us around for six years, documenting every step of the way, capturing moments I wasn’t likely to forget anyway, and immortalising them perfectly. His talents have helped us to bring so many of our visions to life and share them with you. Of course, he we was there to film the final gig, springing about like a cat and not knocking my beer over once. We’ll do something really special with the footage, I promise.
I had better wrap things up before I run out of superlatives.
Starting next week, I’m going to be putting the finishing touches to the new music we’ve been working on for a while. I’m excited to pull it all together and release it. It’s been a long time coming. I hope you’ll enjoy it, too.
Speak soon.
